As a designer, I maintain a bucket list of projects I aspire to complete. However, balancing daily responsibilities often leads to delays. Recently, after the loss of my dog, it was recommended that I engage in activities that rejuvenate my spirit and occupy my mind as a means of coping with my grief. One such project was creating my own designs for Gideon’s Bakehouse. Being an avid admirer of Mr. Eyes, who is one of my idols, I have always wanted to undertake this endeavor. Instead of following his horror-themed designs, I chose to explore a different direction by incorporating a sci-fi theme. Here are the designs I developed, accompanied by a storyline for the year.
The Chronicles of Gideon’s Bakehouse
In a post-apocalyptic world where remnants of humanity struggle to survive, Gideon’s Bakehouse stands as an eerie beacon amidst the ruins. This bakery, shrouded in mystery and legend, is said to hold the key to the world’s salvation—or its ultimate doom.
Characters:
Astronaut Alex: A lone survivor from a failed space mission, Alex crash-lands near Gideon’s Bakehouse. Haunted by memories of space, Alex seeks refuge and answers within the bakery’s walls.
AI Companion, Iris: An advanced artificial intelligence embedded in Alex’s suit, Iris provides guidance and knowledge, but harbors secrets of its own.
Deep Sea Diver, Marina: Emerging from the depths of the ocean, Marina brings tales of underwater civilizations and a dire warning about the rising sea levels.
Mouse Scientist, Dr. Whiskers: A genetically enhanced mouse with unparalleled intellect, Dr. Whiskers is on a quest to reverse the mutations that plague the world.
Cat Telepath, Luna: A telepathic cat who communicates through thoughts, Luna senses the hidden dangers and allies within Gideon’s Bakehouse.
Cyborg, Max: A half-human, half-machine warrior, Max seeks redemption and a way to restore his humanity.
Giant Mech, Titan: A colossal robot built for war, now repurposed to protect the remnants of civilization.
Goddess of Love, Aphrodite: An ancient deity who appears in visions, guiding the characters with cryptic messages of love and unity.
Alien Spaceship Crew: Space pirates who steal jack-o-lanterns, believing them to be powerful artifacts that can control time.
Time Traveler, Chronos: A mysterious figure who appears at crucial moments, offering glimpses of possible futures.
Santa Claus and Krampus: Legendary figures who have survived the apocalypse, now working together to bring hope and fear to the new world.
Plot: The story begins with Alex’s crash-landing near Gideon’s Bakehouse. Drawn by an inexplicable force, Alex enters the bakery, where the air is thick with the scent of freshly baked goods and an unsettling sense of foreboding. Inside, Alex meets the eclectic group of characters, each with their own reasons for being there.
As they uncover the bakery’s secrets, they learn that Gideon’s Bakehouse is a nexus of time and space, where past, present, and future converge. The bakery’s owner, a reclusive figure known only as Gideon, reveals that the world is on the brink of collapse, and only by working together can they prevent the final catastrophe.
Guided by Aphrodite’s visions, the group embarks on a perilous journey to retrieve the stolen jack-o-lanterns from the alien spaceship. These jack-o-lanterns, infused with ancient magic, hold the power to stabilize the time rift threatening to consume the world.
Along the way, they face numerous challenges: battling space pirates, navigating underwater cities, and confronting their own inner demons. With the help of Santa Claus and Krampus, they spread hope and fear to rally the remaining survivors.
In a climactic showdown, the group confronts the alien spaceship crew, reclaiming the jack-o-lanterns and restoring balance to the world. As the time rift closes, Gideon’s Bakehouse transforms into a sanctuary for all, a symbol of unity and resilience in a world reborn.
